This project was for the sequenced renewal of the main centralised steam generation boiler room, CHW primary plant, the campus critical main electrical switch room and HV transformers. It also included the phased relocation and partial renewal of existing back-up power generation plant/bulk oil storage. The principle design aim was to facilitate the overall reduction of central plant area space consumed, by replacing all existing antiquated technology within business critical centralised M&E plant systems. This would enable the relocation of a major film set. The steam boilers served 21 subsidiary plantrooms and all primary air handling plant coils throughout the filming campus. Successful contract delivery was achieved by close liaison with all stakeholders to ensure the guaranteed continuity of BBC services and daily operations.
Added value: Due to our expertise and experience in mechanical and electrical engineering for over 50 years, this enabled us to carry out the required works to the sites bespoke steam boiler system and the complete upgrade of the sites electrical
infrastructure in a live TV studio environment. This was all carried out under the watchful eye of the BBC’s own engineering team, who set out very high standards along with our own, to which we worked towards and delivered the quality expected.
